Usability improvements to the Existing Objects palette

As in Corporate Modeler 9, the Existing objects palette allows you to select existing objects from the repository (objects that you have already created in either Corporate Modeler, or in Model Explorer) and add them to your diagram.

The "tree view" in Corporate Modeler 9 was difficult to navigate, displaying objects which could not be used on the open diagram, and presenting an unmanageable number of objects in a large model. The "table" in Corporate Modeler 10 displays only those objects you want to see (filtered using the Object Type or Category drop-down list) and can be sorted alphabetically by clicking the column headings.

How To...

Filter the existing objects list

At the top of the existing objects palette is a drop down list with the header: Object Type or Category. Selecting an Object Type or Category from this list will cause the objects in the list below to contain ONLY objects of that type or category.

For example, select Process from the Object Type or Category list to show all processes (with any category) in the existing objects list.

The content of the Existing Objects palette is predicated by the contents of the New Objects palette. This means that if you do not have a Process Object Type in your New Objects palette, you will not be able to access any Process Objects from the Existing Objects palette.

Sort the existing objects list

The objects are sorted.
