Open diagrams from a "diagram tree"

The Diagram Tree

The diagram tree is an entirely new feature in Corporate Modeler 10. It shows the relationship between diagrams and objects in the model, and allows you to edit the properties of those diagrams and objects and to open diagrams.

Diagrams and objects are shown in the tree in relation to one another (objects appear below the diagrams that they appear on), and where an object explodes to a detail diagram, the detail diagram is shown either: beneath the object it is exploded from, or beneath the diagram which contains that object in the tree.

The icons in the tree represent:

Open a diagram from the Diagram Tree

There are several available methods of opening a diagram from the Diagram Tree.

To open a diagram by right-clicking it in the tree:

Select Diagram.
Right-click Open.

The diagram opens.

To open a diagram by double-clicking it in the tree:

Double-click Diagram.

The diagram opens.

Open an object’s properties dialog from the diagram tree

Select an Object.
Right-click Properties …

The properties dialog for the selected object opens.

If you cannot see objects in the tree right-click Show Objects.

Select a Diagram.
Right-click Properties …

The diagram properties dialog for the selected diagram opens.

Notes and issues

If your diagram tree is empty either: a. You do not currently have a diagram open, or b. All of the diagrams in your model can be reached from explosions on other diagrams, meaning that there is no parent diagram to use as the "root node" for the tree.
The diagram tree refreshes according to the same rules as the existing objects palette (when a new diagram is opened or a user refreshes the tree using the right-click menu).
