The purpose of the single diagrammer is to enable users to create the kinds of diagrams they want, and not be tied to the old modeler rules. But if you want to draw a diagram which is exactly equivalent to a diagram drawn in the Entity Modeler, you can do so by creating a new diagram that uses Entity rules.
There is a concept in Corporate Modeler of "Diagramming Rules". These rules can be applied to diagrams and / or templates to prevent users from drawing diagrams which are illogical, or which do not conform to a notation "set".
When you set a diagram's rules you are deciding the following things about that diagram:
Which Consistency Rules will be available for use in the diagram.
List of Consistency Rules enabled by diagramming
rules.
Which Categories will be available for the diagram.
If you create a diagram based on Dynamics rules then dynamics categories will be available for that diagram, if you create a diargam based on Entity rules then Entity categories will be available.
List of behaviors disabled by diagramming rules.
Example
If a user creates a new diagram with "Dynamics Rules" it is impossible for them to connect a result object to any other object in that diagram.
This is because a Process drawn in a Dynamics diagram must terminate when a result is achieved.
All diagrams created in previous versions of Corporate Modeler will have rules that replicate the behavior of the old diagrammer that they were created in. So, if you created a diagram in Corporate Modeler 9's Process Dynamics modeler, that diagram will have Process Dynamics rules in Corporate Modeler 10.
A simulation can only be run on diagrams based on Dynamics Rules.
Click File > New Diagram ...
The New Diagram dialog opens.
Select the model you wish to create your new diagram in.
Type a name for your new diagram.
Select to create a diagram based on Rules, and pick the rule group from the drop-down list.
Click OK.
The diagram is created.
If you define your diagram as having No Rules or base it on a template which has No Rules, your diagram will have no preset palette or appearance settings on initial creation, and will not restrict the user's diagramming in any way.
Note: This functionality may be useful if you are responsible for creating templates.
Click File > New Diagram ...
The New Diagram dialog opens.
Select the model you wish to create your new diagram in.
Type a name for your new diagram.
From the Create a blank diagram drop-down list, Select No Rules.
