Since the release of versions 8 and 9 of the Corporate Modeler Suite, you have been able to extend your repository by creating your own user-defined Object Types, Property Types, Association Types and Panes. These custom elements can then be added to any diagram, improving your ability to describe your business, system, or activity diagrammatically.
In the Corporate Modeler Suite 10.1, this function has been improved again, resulting in the following changes to Model Explorer's design view:
Users can now control the order of the panes on each object's properties dialog.
Users can now control the order of the properties on each pane.
Users can now add any number of property types to a pane (except multi-line text fields).
Users can now define property types on their dialogs as being mandatory, thus forcing your users to provide a value for that property.
This function allows you to change the order of the panes on the properties dialogs. This is particularly useful if you want to increase the use of certain properties, or are defining your own panes containing very important properties.
In Model Explorer's Design view:
In the left-hand tree pane, navigate to and select the Object Type whose panes you wish to re-order.
In the Outlook bar (to the left of the tree), click Pane.
All of the panes for this object display in the right-hand pane.
Right-click the pane, and click Properties.
The Properties dialog opens.
Put a new value into the Sequence field.
Note that the lower values will be placed further forward (the pane with the position value 1 will be placed first) and that two panes with the same number will be placed in a random sequence in relation to one another.
This function allows you to change the order of the property types when they are displayed on a specific pane. This is particularly useful if you want to increase the use of certain properties, or are defining your own panes containing very important properties.
In Model Explorer's Design view:
In the left-hand tree pane, navigate to and select the Object Type whose properties you wish to re-order.
In the Outlook bar (to the left of the tree), click Pane .
All of the panes for this object display in the right-hand pane.
Right-click the property type, and click Properties.
The Properties dialog opens.
Click the Associations button.
The Property Type Members dialog opens
From the Associated Objects pane, select a Property Type.
Use the Up and Down buttons to change the position of the Property Type..
In previous versions of the Corporate Modeler Suite it was possible to add user-defined properties to user-defined panes, but not to the standard panes supplied with the basic objects (so you could not add a property type to the General pane for the Object Type: Process).
In Corporate Modeler 10.1 it is possible to add new property types to these panes, and to re-order those properties that already appear on the pane.
You can Add, Edit and Delete standard properties in exactly the same way as you would perform the same actions for user-defined properties.
This function allows you to define a property type as being mandatory. This means that when your users create and edit objects of this type, they must enter a value for this property (just as all objects must - currently - have a name) or they cannot save their changes.
In Model Explorer's Design view:
In the left-hand tree pane, navigate to and select the Object Type with the property that you want to set as mandatory.
In the Outlook bar (to the left of the tree), click Property Type.
All of the property types for this object display in the right-hand pane.
Right-click the property type, and click Properties.
The Properties dialog opens.
Click Mandatory.
Note that mandatory is not really appropriate as a setting for property types: check box and date / time, as these properties always have a value (check boxes are always either checked or unchecked, and there is always a date / time in the date / time field).
