Object Explorer - a new application for browsing your models and objects

Object ExplorerObject Explorer is a new tool which is dedicated to providing quick and easy access to all your models, objects and associations.

With its emphasis on helping you quickly get to the detail of your models, the properties and associations of objects are displayed instantly when browsing your models and selecting objects. Add to that the ability to sort, filter and search your data, and export any results to a number of file types, and we're sure you'll find Object Explorer an invaluable addition to the Corporate Modeler Suite.

In future versions of the Corporate Modeler Suite Object Explorer will replace the Objects view of Model Explorer. In Corporate Modeler Suite 10.3E we suggest that you use Object Explorer rather than Model Explorer when browsing, creating and editing models, objects and associations, but continue to use Model Explorer for model design and administration.

Apply formatting to any multi-line text fields

Formatted textYou can now easily apply formatting to any multi-line text field in Corporate Modeler Suite which can dramatically improve the appearance of your published models.

With the new control, when you edit a multi-line text field, you are able to apply basic formatting such as bold, italics, lists, font and font size. You can also copy and paste formatted documents from other sources, such as Microsoft Word.

View object properties and associations in Corporate Modeler

Properties windowIn line with the new functionality introduced in Object Explorer, Corporate Modeler now allows you to instantly see an object's properties and associations when it is selected on the diagram.

The new Properties and Associated Objects windows react to what is selected on the diagram to show you the details of the object. It means that you no longer have to open the properties dialog to view the details of an object, or perform a number of additional clicks to see its associations.

Entity Relationship Diagramming improvements

Entity Relationship diagrammingThis latest release sees the addition of two useful improvements for anyone interested in Entity Relationship Diagramming.

Firstly, you can now configure the Entity shape to show Key Members and/or Attributes associated with the Entity.

Secondly, you can more easily add Relationships to Relationship Sets by using the right-click menu in Corporate Modeler.

Dockable window control and view multiple diagrams

Corporate Modeler now has improved usability for docking palette windows within the application which also allows you to view more than one diagram at a time.

You can now easily customize the layout of Corporate Modeler to suit your preferences by moving the various dockable windows around the application.

In addition, you can now view multiple diagrams at the same time, allowing you to compare them side by side.

Move Nested Shapes in Corporate Modeler

Move nested shapesTo make creating and editing the layout of your diagrams easier, when you place one shape within another, such as an object in a swimlane, you can now move them around the diagram area together.

When you switch on the Move Nested Shapes option in Corporate Modeler, if you have any shapes that are within another shape, you can move them both by just selecting the larger (background) shape. To move the contained shape away from its partner, just select it on its own.

Improved routing of lines when shapes are being moved in Corporate Modeler diagrams

Automatic line routingIn another improved usability feature in Corporate Modeler, now you have the option that when you move a shape on a diagram, any connectors connected to the shape automatically route themselves around other shapes on the diagram using right-angled bends.

This prevents diagonal connectors appearing and lines crossing over other shapes which can lead to untidy and confusing diagrams. It'll also save time because you won't need to redraw your connectors when editing a layout.

New Property Selector dialog in Multi-Language Manager to make selecting objects for translation easier

To make translating your models a simpler process, we've added a new dialog to Multi-Language Manager which enables you to choose exactly what elements of your model to export for translation.

The new Property Selector dialog is an integral part of the export process and saves you having to mark translatable items in your model individually with the Confirmed for Translation setting. Instead, you can now select within Multi-Language Manager all those parts of your model that you want to translate. There are also some useful features to enable you to select properties across multiple object types in one operation, such as selecting all Descriptions in your model.

Numerous enhancements to Corporate Publisher

There are a number of new features in Corporate Publisher, including:

  • Save Diagram List
You can now pre-select the diagrams that Corporate Publisher will use. You can therefore control the publication from the Publication Set, rather than having to individually select diagrams from the Diagram List each time you publish. Use the Diagram Selection Method and Diagrams to Publish options to do this.
  • Save Issue Category List
Similarly to the Save Diagram List feature above, you can now also pre-select the Issue Category List. Use the Issue Category Selection Method and Issue Categories to Publish options to do this.
  • Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) compliance
All HTML output from Corporate Publisher now adheres to the globally-recognized accessibility standard.
  • Increased support for controlling diagram hierarchy
Use the new Hierarchy Root Determination feature to choose which diagram should be the root node of your diagram hierarchy. You can also choose which diagrams to exclude from being published in your diagram hierarchy.
  • Built-in support for stylesheets
You can now specify in the Publication Set itself which stylesheets to use for your publication.
  • Centralized resources
Corporate Publisher now allows you to specify where to find resources for your publication, such as images, stylesheets, or buttons for SVG pages, so you can store them centrally in your organization.

Simulator Add-ins

Simulator Financial, Simulator Grapher and Simulator Analyzer are all now included in the Corporate Modeler Suite. Each of these useful applications which enable you to inspect and review your simulation results while Simulator is running.

Since Simulator was improved and enhanced in Corporate Modeler Suite 10.3, the Add-ins have not been compatible with it. But now they have been brought into line with the new simulation engine and are included in this latest release.
