The Casewise Portal

The Casewise Portal is the all round, innovative and flexible enterprise wide tool allowing multiple users access to the Corporate Exchange when working on enterprise architectures, best practice, compliance and business process improvement initiatives.

Through an intuitive user interface utilizing the latest Web based technologies, the Portal grants users the ability to create, navigate, edit and review Corporate Modeler objects whilst providing a central point of navigation for users and the framework for the deployment of other Web based solutions such as the Compliance Activity Manager .

Users have the ability to browse Corporate Exchange models and objects by object type, name and by associations including filtering and searching to find precisely the objects of interest. Users are also able to access all of the Casewise Best Practice and Compliance models, as well as customer created enterprise and business models. Other key attributes include the ability to create new objects and associations and edit object and association properties. The Portal also gives the user the opportunity to display and navigate Corporate Modeler diagrams whilst accessing reports on key information held within the Corporate Exchange.

Providing a configurable and extensible navigation bar, users can select the specific features they wish to interact with, either in the Portal itself, or from “plug-ins” such as the Casewise Compliance Activity Manager (CAM) with which the Portal works hand in hand.

Access by users to objects can be restricted based on object types and/or individual object names. The Portal also provides the flexibility to audit user actions including the creation and deletion of objects and the editing of object properties.

In summary, the Casewise Portal offers enterprise wide accessibility to the Corporate Exchange Repository resulting in the increase of the number of users able to participate directly in enterprise architecture, best practice, compliance and process improvement initiatives.

Elevating the Portal with the Compliance Activity Management (CAM)

The Compliance Activity Manager (CAM) seamlessly elevates the Portal from being a fully functional web front-end of an organization’s corporate data, to a complete and comprehensive compliance management solution. The CAM offers an inherent work-flow capability which facilitates compliance to best practice standards using a state of the art task Scheduler & Manager.

The Portal's main component is the "Objects by type" view, which provides similar capabilities to Model Explorer's Object view.

To ensure architectural alignment with Corporate Modeler and therefore to guarantee a whole host of compatibility benefits, the Portal is implemented in .NET 2.0, which is Microsoft’s latest version of its web services strategy to connect information, people, systems and devices through software.

Being dynamic, the Portal requires no batch generation steps or overnight builds. As a result, there is no need to base decisions on old data or keep users waiting.

Being responsive, the Portal accesses live Corporate Modeler data. It is designed to take full advantage of cutting edge AJAX type technologies, which permit partial web page refresh.

Business Service Activities

The Compliance Activity Manager (CAM) seamlessly elevates the Portal from being a fully functional web front-end to an organization’s corporate data to a fully functional web front-end to an organization’s corporate data, with inherent work-flow capabilities to facilitate compliance to best practice standards.

The CAM allows users – typically project managers – to assign tasks to other users, in order to satisfy the needs of compliance standards. The compliance standards are implemented as instances of the Corporate Modeler object type (Audit Questions). Each audit question must be associated to a process because it is the processes within an organization which are subject to audit.

The CAM handles the exchange of messages between project managers and users and uses traffic light color coding to display a task’s status – be it approved (green), awaiting approval (amber) or rejected (red).

The CAM then retains a chronological message trail for each assigned task, enabling a project manager to assess progress towards compliance.
